Stillwater Center Resident Receives Award
Meet Sumayah. She recently received a Shark Award for classroom participation at Northmoor Elementary. She is able to participate with the aid of a Dynavox which is a communication device. She uses it daily in the classroom and very well from what we are told!
Stillwater Center Award Recipients
On Tuesday, June 27, 2017, the Montgomery County Commissioners and Dr. Michelle Pierce-Mobley recognized Stillwater Center employee, Eddie Jones, who recently received the Developmental Disability Hall of Fame Personal Accomplishment Award. Stillwater Center Families & Friends, Inc. received the Erin Ritchey Community Award.
Each year, the Montgomery County Board of Developmental Disabilities Services and the Brighter Tomorrow Foundation sponsor a recognition event that inducts individuals with developmental disabilities into the Developmental Disability Hall of Fame. In addition, they also recognize individuals and groups by awarding the Erin Ritchey Memorial Awards.
Stillwater Center is a home for children and adults who are residents of Montgomery County, have the most severe and profound intellectual disabilities, are physically challenged and/or have significant medical needs. Stillwater provides other related support services to eligible families and individuals. Currently, Stillwater Center is licensed to provide residential services to 98 individuals. Stillwater Center is owned and operated by the Board of Montgomery County Commissioners.
