Dispatcher
Civilian
Dispatchers must have excellent communications skills and possess
the ability to communicate effectively with the public as well as
other law enforcement personnel. Dispatchers must have the ability
to learn the basic operation of the Sheriff's 800Mhz radio system
and computer aided dispatch systems. The ability to obtain
certification as a Law Enforcement Automated Data System (LEADS)
operator is mandatory.
Dispatcher applicants must be at least 18 years of age and possess a high
school diploma or equivalent. Dispatcher applicants must be able to
keyboard at least fifty words per minute.
The hourly pay rate for the Civilian Dispatcher position ranges from $14.40 - $20.76.
Security Officer
Security Officers
provide basic security services and assist the public, within court
buildings and other county facilities. Security Officers must
possess the ability to communicate effectively with the public.
Security Officers must have the ability to learn how to operate
weapons detection equipment and other screening devices, and to
acquire a working knowledge of security methods and safety
practices.
Applicants for
this non-sworn position must be at least 18 years of age and have a
high school diploma or equivalent. Security Officer applicants must
be able to keyboard at least thirty words per minute.
The hourly pay rate for Security Officers ranges from $12.31 - $15.65.
Corrections Officer
Corrections Officers are responsible to ensure the care and welfare of prisoners
confined within the Jail while using proper safety methods and
techniques. Corrections Officers must possess the ability to
complete a State of Ohio approved basic corrections course
successfully.
Applicants for this non-sworn position must be at least 18 years of age, have a
high school diploma or equivalent, and must be able to keyboard at
least thirty words per minute.
The pay rate for Corrections Officers ranges from $14.34 - $20.67.
Deputy Sheriff
Deputy Sheriffs
are responsible for protecting the life and property of citizens
through the enforcement of the law and through the investigation of
felony, misdemeanor, and traffic offenses. Therefore, candidates
for Deputy Sheriff must possess certification as a Peace Officer
from the Ohio Peace Officer Training Commission before
beginning the selection process.
Sworn Deputy
Sheriff applicants must be at least 21 years of age and possess a
high school diploma or equivalent. Deputy Sheriffs must possess a
valid State of Ohio driver's license, must be able to keyboard at least
thirty words per minute, and must be able to pass a physical performance test

for the Deputy Sheriff position ranges from $22.84 - $28.28.
Reserve Deputy

Reserve
Deputies work in conjunction with regular Deputy Sheriff’s and
perform a wide variety of duties including augmenting patrol
deputies and detectives and working special events. Certification
through the Ohio Peace Officers Training Commission as a peace
officer is necessary before applying for this volunteer
position. Reserve Deputy applicants must complete the same
selection process as full-time employees.

This is an unpaid
sworn position. Reserve Deputies must complete a requisite number
of volunteer service hours each month.
