Things to Know Before You Visit...

  • Plan to come at least an hour or more before closing.  It takes time select your new best friend, and several minutes fill out the necessary paperwork and process an adoption.

The shelter is generally very crowded between 4-6 pm on weekdays and 2-4 pm on Saturday's so please be patient as you may have to wait to see the dog you've chosen. Plan to come in early and allow a little extra time if to fill out the necessary paperwork.

  • Bring all family members along to meet the dog you are considering for adoption---this includes all kids. Your new dog will be part of the family, and we want to make sure it gets along well with everyone else who lives in the household.

  • Once you have decided on a dog, we will also ask you to bring in any existing dogs you have in the home to meet the new dog before finalizing your adoption. We have several "get acquainted areas" where the dogs can meet.
  • Bring your wallet and a photo ID!  We accept cash, checks, Visa or Mastercard.

  • If you rent, bring along your landlord's phone number or a copy of your lease showing that dogs are permitted and any breed or weight restrictions.

  • You can also download our adopter survey and fill it out before you come.

Thanksgiving Safety Tips

'Tis the season for friends, family and holiday feasts - but also for possible distress to our animal companions.  Check out the following tips from ASPCA experts for a fulfulling Thanksgiving that your pets can enjoy, too.

-If you decide to feed your pet a little nibble of turkey, make sure it's boneless and well cooked.

-Sage can make you Thanksgiving stuffing taste delish, but it and many other herbs contain essential oils and resins that can cause gastrointestinal upset and central nervous system depression to pets if eaten in large quantities.

- Don't allow your pets to overindulge, as they could wind up with a case of stomach upset, diarrhea or even worse - and inflammatory condition of the pancreas know as pacreatitis.
