Summary:
Montgomery County Educators Get Free Materials for Classrooms
Montgomery County Material Reuse Facility (MCMRF) is holding a MCMRF Teacher Only Shopping Day on Saturday, January 12th from noon – 4 pm. This event permits any licensed Montgomery County school teacher to register and shop for free materials that can be used in their classrooms. Pre-registration is required and can be done at www.mcswd.org.
MCMRF is a reusable material warehousing unit that operates year-round and is part of Montgomery County Solid Waste Services.  Normally McMRF is open for free shopping to all registered Montgomery County 501(c)3 non-profit organizations on Tuesdays and Fridays, but three times a year it opens its doors to the teachers to give them the opportunity to obtain materials that will aid in educating our youth.

Materials collected at MCMRF are donated by local businesses and individuals who have materials that are no longer wanted or needed, but are still usable. Rather than tossing them in the trash, businesses and individuals can donate these items and are even able to receive a donation receipt for their tax purposes. It benefits the businesses because they save money on disposal costs and they can say they are supporting local organizations and schools. Almost any item can be donated. Overrun and overstock items, desks, chairs, material scraps, paper, office supplies, bookshelves, foam scraps, construction materials, misprinted promotional items, hand tools, and art supplies are just a few of the many items that are accepted. For more information on donating to MCMRF call 496-6639, or visit www.mcswd.org. For information on other business, community, or educational services and programs offered through Montgomery County Solid Waste, please call 225-4999 or visit www.mcswd.org.
