Summary:
On Friday, December 7, 2007, the Montgomery County, Ohio Economic Development/Government Equity (ED/GE) Advisory Committee recommended funding six projects, totaling $667,000, from the County's 2007 Primary Economic Development Fund of ED/GE. The funding recommendations will be considered by the Board of County Commissioners at its December 18, 2007 meeting. The projects recommended for funding are listed below and in the attached press release:
City of Dayton – Morning Pride Manufacturing Company Expansion -- $150,000
Morning Pride is undertaking a two-phase building and parking lot expansion. ED/GE assistance is being requested to facilitate the second phase of the construction project. The project will retain 377 jobs and create 75 more with an average annual payroll of $18,000,000.
City of Riverside – Curtiss-Wright Relocation and Expansion -- $100,000
Curtiss-Wright is moving into a 25,000 sf space on the first floor of 5000 Springfield Street in Wright Point Center. Fifty-eight (58) computer-related jobs will be retained with this expansion and the company projects it will be creating an additional 15 jobs over the next seven years. ED/GE funds will be utilized to cover the cost of upgrading the office wiring.
City of Brookville – Kitchen Solvers Building Restoration -- $75,000
Kitchen Solvers will purchase and renovate a building at 310 Sycamore Street to expand its core operation. The company will retain 10 jobs in Brookville and are projecting the addition of 10 installer/fabrication and sales/marketing positions. ED/GE funds will be used to help renovate the building.
City of Englewood – LWB/ISE Building Renovation -- $75,000
This project will reuse an existing 65,000 sf building that has remained vacant for nearly three years. ED/GE funds will assist with the building upgrades.
City of Oakwood – Sugar Camp Re-Use and Redevelopment -- $150,000
Sugar Camp is the only remaining large developable parcel in Oakwood.
City of Trotwood – PMG/Supermet - $117,000
P/M Tool and Die will be acquiring 10 acres of land, an existing 96,000 sf facility and contracts of PMG Ohio. PMG Ohio will be relocating its business to Indiana, resulting in a loss of 80+ jobs for this region. P/M Tool and Die will continue operations at the PMG Ohio location under the name Supermet, creating 20 new jobs and retaining four jobs. ED/GE funds will be utilized to assist with acquisition and completion of an environmental study.
