Summary:
Montgomery County Offers NACo Prescription Discount Card for Residents

Montgomery County Commissioners Dodge, Foley and Lieberman announced the new NACo Prescription Discount Card Program in an effort to assist uninsured or underinsured residents in obtaining less expensive prescription drugs. This card will allow residents to have an average savings of 14% off brand name medicine and an average savings of 34% off generic medicine compared to regular retail prices.

Montgomery County today launched the discount card program to help consumers cope with the high price of prescription drugs.  The county is making free prescription drug cards available under a program sponsored by the National Association of Counties that offers average savings of 20 percent off the retail price of commonly prescribed drugs.

The cards may be used by all county residents, regardless of age, income, or existing health coverage, and are accepted at all of the county's pharmacies.  A majority of participating retail pharmacies also will honor the NACo prescription discount card

Montgomery County is proud to be one of the counties nationwide participating with NACo." said Commission President Debbie Lieberman.  "The NACo prescription discount card offers significant savings for the uninsured and underinsured residents of our county, and even those fortunate to have prescription drug coverage can use the card to save money on drugs that are not covered by their health plan." remarked Commissioner Dan Foley.  "Residents do not have to be Medicare beneficiaries to be eligible for this program." stated Commissioner Judy Dodge.

Best of all, there is no cost to county taxpayers for NACo and Montgomery County to make these money saving cards available to our residents.

Cards will be available at the Montgomery County Administration Building, The Job Center, the Dayton-Montgomery County Libraries, the Animal Resource Center and at Public Health venues.  County residents can call 225-4148 for a card, or can log onto www.mcohio.org to request one via the web.

"Using the NACo prescription drug card is easy," said Commission President Debbie Lieberman.  "Simply present it immediately at a participating pharmacy.  There is no enrollment form, no membership fee and no restrictions or limits on frequency of use.  Cardholders and their family members may use the card anytime their prescriptions are not covered by insurance.  Companion animal prescriptions are also covered." continued Lieberman.
