Montgomery County Environmental Calendar Winners Announced
With over 750 entries received, 41 area schools, home schooled students, and other organizations participated in Montgomery County's 2008 Environmental Calendar Contest.    Students in divisions from kindergarten through twelfth grade choose one of two themes:  Every Drop Counts or Every Litter Bit Hurts. Students were to creatively express the need to conserve water or the negative results of littering.  "We are always impressed by the efforts of the students," commented Greg Merrill, Sanitary Engineering Director. "We applaud all the young artists who chose to devote their talent, time, and energy to aide with increasing awareness of environmental issues within our community."

Following a reception being held in their honor, the winning artists including the grand prize winner and those receiving honorable mention will be recognized on Tuesday, November 27th by the Montgomery County Board of Commissioners at the regularly scheduled commission meeting.  Prizes donated by Dick's Sporting Goods, McCallisters Art Supply, Office Depot,  and others  will be awarded following the Commission meeting.
