Summary:
Montgomery County Sanitary Engineering Hosts Utility Workshop
Water utility providers are working together to improve and enhance the services they provide. The Montgomery County Sanitary Engineering Department will host the first Ohio regional annual benchmarking data sharing workshop on October 24-25, 2007. The QualServe Division of the American Water Works Association (AWWA) will facilitate the workshop. The workshop will focus on a subset of 22 performance indicators that are tracked by water and wastewater utilities to improve performance. Greg Merrill, Montgomery County Sanitary Engineering Department Director, explained the concept, "The purpose of the workshop is to bring together a group of utilities that are interested in sharing information about definitions, data collection strategies and the actual work practices and processes." Approximately ten utilities from Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky and New York will participate in this workshop. "Montgomery County is pleased to host this initial meeting and to be involved in this groundbreaking effort," added Merrill. The American Water Works Association will build a confidential custom report based on the results of the workshop.
