Summary:

Fourth graders from thirty-four Miami Valley schools will be participating in the Dayton Children's Water Festival held on the University of Dayton campus on Wednesday, May 9th.  Over 1,650 students will spend the day participating in a variety of activities designed to raise awareness of the importance of water as the most precious natural resource.
Classroom presentations, outdoor hands on activities, and entertainers will engage the children throughout the day.  The annual event is made possible by the blended efforts of a variety of entities and hundreds of volunteers. Montgomery County, Greene County, City of Dayton, Ohio EPA, the Combined Health District, and others support the event.  Private industries such as YSI, Cargill, and Veloia join in sponsoring the popular Festival.
"It is an opportunity for the children to learn about water and stewardship.  The hands-on, age-appropriate activities work to drive the message home in a fun-filled way," states Greg Merrill, Director of Montgomery County Sanitary Engineering.  "Working together with other governments, agencies, and the private sector, we are able to provide the children with a unique learning experience."
