Summary:
Dayton, Ohio: Children Services, a division of Montgomery County Job and Family Services, is offering free 8 " x 11" full color wall calendars featuring photos and profiles of local adoptable boys and girls ages 11 to 17. "This is the first locally-produced calendar with photos and information about area teenagers available for adoption through Children Services," according to Christy Norvell, Interim Director of Montgomery County Job and Family Services. The free calendar, available at all branches of the Montgomery County Public Library, includes information on how the adoption process works as well as adoption procedures, which must be followed according to the County and the State of Ohio.

"This is the most difficult age for finding suitable homes for adoption," said Norvell, "but we keep trying because we know each and everyone of these kids can benefit from growing up in a loving and safe family environment-a benefit that changes the life of a child from the time of adoption and throughout their life."

The 4-color calendar was designed to help the public focus on the children seeking adoption and shows pictures of 12 of the many children available for adoption through Montgomery County Children Services.

"De'Angelo, age 17, one of the 12 teens featured in the 2007 calendar, had this to say about being in the new  project, "It's cool because a lot of people will see us and learn about us and what we like to do. I just want to be with a loving family as their child and not as a foster child." De'Angelo, although very good at art and drawing, wants to attend the University of Dayton and then go to medical school. He likes basketball and football and has a happy, easy-going personality.

Another teen featured in the calendar is Ty'Kneesha, age 16.  Not only is she very attractive with a great smile, she's a typical teen-age girl who likes to hang out with friends, talk on her cell phone, and loves to go to movies and to amusement parks. She loves animals and aspires to be a veterinarian. She also likes to attend church and would like to be with an active family.

The 2007 calendars are available free of charge at any Montgomery County Library branch or by calling
(937) 224-KIDS.  There is also information about all of the children on the calendar as well as other children under Children Services care at www.montcsb.org.
