Montgomery County Solid Waste Contests Highlight Student Creativity

Montgomery County Solid Waste District is currently accepting registrations for the 15th annual Recycled Sculpture Contest and the 7th annual Take Pride Poetry contest.  Both contests encourage students to express environmental creativity and imagination in an artistic manner.

Registrations for the Recycled Sculpture contest are now being accepted until March 5, 2007. The Recycled Sculpture contest is open to all Montgomery County students in grades K-12 and encourages students to promote environmental awareness by using recyclable materials as a medium for creating a sculpture. The student's school must register to submit the sculpture for judging at the County level. For more information, or to have your school register, go to www.curby.org. The Take Pride Poetry contest is accepting entries from now until March 31, 1007. The Take Pride Poetry contest is open to all Montgomery Country students in grades 2-12 and encourages students to explore different types of poetry to express their environmental ideas concerning litter prevention and awareness. An awards reception honoring County wide winners will be held in May 2007. All Take Pride Poetry winners, County level Recycled Sculpture winners, and 2006-2007 Recycle Rally School winners will be announced and honored with certificates and other prizes.
