Summary:
All families and people who are homeless on the night of Friday, January 26th who are either staying in a shelter or transitional housing program, or on the street will be counted.  The Homeless Solutions Policy Board members and volunteers will count all persons residing in emergency shelters or transitional housing programs in Montgomery County on Friday evening.  Early Saturday morning Policy Board members and volunteers will count people who slept on the streets, in the park or other places not intended for human habitation.  This "Point in Time Count" is being conducted to ascertain the number of people staying in shelters and on the street in Montgomery County on one day.  Used with other information gathered during the course of the year the information will allow the Homeless Solutions Policy Board to more effectively plan for the housing and services needed to end chronic homelessness and reduce overall homelessness.  Data collected will also be submitted to HUD as part of the community's 2007 Continuum of Care proposal.
