Tax Bills to Mail on Monday January 23rd, Due February 13, 2006

On Monday, January 23rd, the Montgomery County Treasurer's office will mail first half 2005 (payable 2006) real estate tax bills to all property owners in Montgomery County. The deadline for payment is February 13, 2006.

Taxpayers have several options for payment:

1) Pay by mail or in the Treasurer's office with a check, money order, or Discover Card. For returned tax receipt, when mailing, enclose the entire bill and a self-addressed stamped envelope. Discover Card payments are subject to a convenience fee. For information on Discover payments, call (937) 225-4010 extension 115.

2) Pay on the Internet by electronic check, using a regular checking account. Choose "Pay taxes by Check" at www.mctreas.org. No fee is added to this option.

3) To pay by Visa, MasterCard or American Express:

a. On the Internet: choose "Pay taxes by Credit Card" at www.mctreas.org.

b. By telephone: call 1-800-2PAY TAX (1-800-272-9829), enter jurisdiction code 4530, and follow the voice prompts. A convenience fee is added when using credit cards. These cards are not accepted in the Treasurer's office or by phone in the Treasurer's office.

4) Drop your payments in the white county mailbox in front of the County Administration Building at 451 West Third Street. DO NOT use cash for a drop-off payment.

Taxpayers who do not pay their first half tax bills in full by February 13th are subject to a ten-percent (10%) penalty, as specified by Ohio law.

Additionally, parcels that are certified delinquent are eligible for a tax lien sale to be held in November. In order to avoid being placed in the lien sale, parcel owners must either pay their taxes in full or make payment arrangements with the Montgomery County Treasurer's office by calling (937) 225-4010 option 2. The tax lien sale program will continue to sell delinquent tax certificates on an annual basis.

Treasurer's office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. On Saturday, February 11th, the Treasurer's office will be open from 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. to accommodate taxpayers who are unable to make it to the Treasurer's office during the work week.
