The Questioned Document Section processes any evidence which requires analysis dealing with any aspect of writing or documents. By examining handwriting, the examiner can make an identification of the writer. Identifications can also be made to typewriters and photocopiers. Different papers or different inks can be distinguished using a combination of analytical techniques. Erasures, alterations and latent writing can also be detected.
The section handles about 300 cases per year.
