The Auto Title Division of the Montgomery County Clerk of Courts Office issues Certificates of Title to owners of motorized vehicles in Montgomery County on behalf of the State of Ohio.  This function includes titles to automobiles, trucks, motorcycles, certain scooters, and watercraft including boats and personal watercraft vehicles.  Ownership of a motor vehicle is not complete and is not recognized under law unless a title for the vehicle has been issued to the owner.  Failure to transfer title or to obtain a title for a purchased vehicle can create significant problems for someone attempting to sell or dispose of a motor vehicle.  A title issued by the Clerk of Courts on behalf of the State of Ohio is the document that establishes ownership of a motor vehicle in Ohio.
